Where to start

A hexie is a hexagon (6 sides) shaped piece of paper/card stock with which one can wrap scraps of fabric around, they come in a range of sizes and templates and can be home made, bought online or in store and can even be bought in bulk. My first lot of hexies are store bought from my local quilting shop and cost $6.60 for around 80 and they feel like a card stock as opposed to paper, they have a firmer feel and I like how secure they feel under the fabric as I fold it over.

My second lot I have printed off myself using a site online which allows you to create hexies of any size you like, mine are 1.25" which means that one single edge is 1.25" in length which gives a point to point size of 2.5".

100 paper hexies

At this size it places 11 on an A4 sized piece of paper and I printed enough pages to cut out over 400 as I need around 1500 in total, so far I've cut out over 200 and I'll be honest, it's tedious and time consuming but cost saving and I don't have to leave the house if I need more hexies!!

Once you have your hexies, either home made or bought, it's time to cut your fabrics and 'wrap' your papers.
